The Liberty Bell Center
Independence National Historical Park
The master plan for Independence National Historical Park created a democratic and open park for the people by arranging a simple set of elements, pathways and plantings along three civic blocks in front of Independence Hall.
The Liberty Bell Center, opened in October 2003, houses a national treasure and symbol of freedom. Designed as a glass enclosed pavilion in the park, the Center provides a larger home for the Bell and a more comprehensive visitor experience. Accessible by day and illuminated at night, the 12,000 square foot building gives form to the client’s mission to bring the story of the Bell and its historic significance to a larger and more diverse audience.
Project completed as a senior architect while at Bohlin Cywinski Jackson.
